Palliative, Bereavement and Caregiver Support - Powell River

Provides support to individuals and their loved ones through the stages of dying, death and bereavement.
Hospice volunteers provide physical, social, spiritual and practical support to individuals and their loved ones through the stages of dying, death and bereavement.

Caregiver Support: Hospice volunteers provide caregivers with a break from the emotional and physical demands of caring for a relative or friend. They also provide grief support, a listening ear and caregiver resources.

Bereavement and Grief Support: Hospice volunteers provide companionship and support for those who are grieving.
These include:
  • Group Support: Provides an 8-week adult grief group. During these groups, information is offered about the grief process and participants have the opportunity to share their stories and to learn about healthy ways to begin to heal. Bereavement sessions are held in a safe, non-judgmental group environment where individuals can meet others who have also experienced a loss
  • Individual Support: Provides one-to-one, individual support over the phone or in-person
  • Children, Youth and Family Support: Provide group bereavement support or one-to-one support for children, youth or families who have experienced loss

Referrals: Accepts referrals from general practitioners, acute care, community health, mental health and longterm care facilities and service agencies.
