Community Health Centres (CHC) - Pender Community Health Centre

Pender Community Health Centre (CHC) serves the Downtown Eastside, Gastown, and Strathcona communities. They provide a range of health care and support services to people who have acute, chronic, palliative or rehabilitative health care needs. Clients must reside in the downtown eastside, have no other primary care provider (are not attached to another family physician elsewhere), and experience barriers accessing services elsewhere.
Services provided at this CHC include:
  • Elders in residence - Where Elders and Knowledge Keepers from different First Nations in acute and community health care sites
  • Palliative Care in your home- Home hospice palliative care provides physical, emotional, social and spiritual care in the home to comfort and improve the quality of life for those living with or dying from advanced illness.
  • Opioid Agonist Treatment
  • Prenatal and Early Years Program
  • Child Health Clinics
  • Harm Reduction Supplies & Needle distribution Sites
  • Dental
  • BC Early Hearing Program
  • Speech and Language
  • Sexual Health & Youth

    Please note public immunizations are not available at this CHC location.

    There are multiple points of access to the CHC including:
    • Self-referral to individual Primary Care sites (referrals to be reviewed by Clinic staff )
    • PARIS referrals by VCH staff to individual sites
    • Central Intake or TST referrals to individual sites
