Drug Checking is also offered at this location. Service is provided in-person Monday, Tuesday, Friday, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the CRC (4752 Joyce Ave.). Lift Community services offers free, anonymous drug checking services including FTIR Spectrometer services and fentanyl test strips, as well as free substance use and harm reduction information and resources. Testing takes a small sample about the size of a match-head and about 10 minutes. This is a free, confidential service and clients do not need to provide any personal information. The staff are trained FTIR spectrometer technicians and can tell you:
- What the main active ingredient is
- If other drugs may be mixed in
- If cutting agents have been used as a filler
- Up to 3- 4 components, including approximate proportions
- Whether your sample contains trace amounts of fentanyl and/or some fentanyl analogues
