Youth Programs

Provided by Youth & Family Powell River

Provides various programs designed to support youth.
A variety of programs designed to support youth are offered. These include:
  • Strength In Self (Ages 13-18): Youth & Family Enhancement Counsellors provide support and connection, a listening ear & guidance for youth seeking support to work through a mental, emotional or other daily challenge.
  • Youth Engagement Support (Ages 13-18): The YES Program provides one-on-one, individualized support and practical skills training to youth who are living independently (or transitioning towards living independently), and who are experiencing challenges. This program is both voluntary and collaborative. Occasional group activities or programs are also offered. Eligibility for this program is via referral MCFD or SD47. Youth experiencing challenges related to independent living and wellbeing can self-refer to YES.
  • Youth Justice Worker: Provides services for youth who have been involved in a crime and referred to our Youth Justice Program by the provincial government’s Youth Probation Officer (YPO) under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. This program provides one-on-one support in prosocial activities, health, education, employment, fostering positive relationships with others and problem-solving skills to reduce risk for re-offending. Services may also include the provision of intensive supervision for youth in need of increased support to meet the terms of their probation.
  • Youth Resource Centre: The Youth Resource Centre is a safe, positive, caring community centre committed to supporting youth to realize their potential through quality social, recreational, creative, educational and cultural activities as well as adult mentoring, and access to other relevant community services.
