Comox Valley MHSU provides a single access point for individuals aged 19+ seeking free adult mental health and substance use services in the Comox Valley and surrounding communities (including Courtenay, Comox, Cumberland, Denman & Hornby Islands).

Services Provided:

  • Screening and assessment
  • Service navigation and referral
  • Connection to mental health and substance use services including counselling, outreach teams, treatment and recovery.
  • Drop-In Treatment Groups

How to Access Services:


For Patients: No referral required
  • Single Session Walk-In Service (SSWIS): Provides brief, solution-focused support for mental health and substance use concerns. Walk in or call to speak with a nurse about a current concern. The SSWIS team provides support, assessment, service navigation, and connections to appropriate MHSU services. SSWIS is not a crisis service.   • Drop-In Treatment Groups: Offered in-person Monday through Friday. Please call to request a schedule. Virtual treatment groups also available. Click HERE for more information.
For Healthcare Providers:

Referral for Intake: Family physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers may refer patients for mental health and substance use concerns. Referrals support screening, assessment, treatment planning, and connection to appropriate MHSU services.
  • Referring providers receive communication regarding the patient's assessment, recommendations, and treatment plan.
  • If you are unsure what service a patient needs, please submit a referral for screening and assessment.
For referrals for psychiatric consultation, please refer to the Psychiatric Collaborative Care Clinic (PCCC) profile page.
For patients under the age of 19, please refer to the Comox Valley Hospital Wellness Centre - Child and Youth Psychiatry page.

Crisis Services:


Comox Valley MHSU is not a crisis service.
Individuals experiencing a mental health crisis should contact the Vancouver Island Crisis Line (1-888-494-3888) or attend the nearest Emergency Department.

Office Hours of Operation are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Closed daily for lunch from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM, Re-open 1:00PM - 3PM
Note: Telephones will be answered but no sessions are offered over the lunch hour.
Wednesdays Operate 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM only
