Rehabilitation teams provide individual therapy prographs with a focus on function to develop effective rehabilitation goals and discharge plans.
Island Health offers a wide range of adult rehabilitative services including intensive inpatient therapy, ongoing outpatient therapy, and intensive outpatient therapy, dependent upon the needs of each individual. Rehabilitation teams can consist of dietitians, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists with support from rehabilitation assistants, physicians including physiatrists and neuro/psychologists, speech and language pathologists, social workers, and respiratory therapists.

Outpatient Physiotherapy programs provide short-term physiotherapy serviceds for patients experiencing a recent functional decline due to surgery, neurological conditions, complex medical needs, or worsening chronic conditions. The program supports recovery and timely discharge from acute or inpatient rehabilitation through targeted rehabilitation for complex patient populations, including post-operative and medically frail individuals. Eligibility & How to Access
  • Adults residing in the Island Health Authority area who are recovering from physical injuries
  • A referral is required to access these services. Individuals should speak with their primary healthcare provider, surgeon, or other clinician (providers, please see below)
